Who is Gareth?

Hi, I'm Gareth Dean. Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor, based at Acorns Health and Leisure Club in Crawley.

I pride myself in giving my clients the best service possible to help them achieve their fitness goals. This brings me so much job satisfaction, especially seeing my clients enjoy themselves through their hard work and to get to where they want to be. 

I specialize in pad work and strength and conditioning training. This includes the use of kettlebells, circuits, boot camps, and HIIT in my training programs.

However, I understand the hurdles of everyday life, my favourite food is pizza and growing up, I was the chubby kid, now I know this was due to my body type and adjust all my programs to take into account not only goals but physic too.

 Yes you will hear from me about weight loss and portion control but remember I have personally had those rubbish days and know how difficult it can be

 I love my job and will always try to help each individual client reach their fullest potential and their ultimate fitness goals!

I started to gain weight in my mid thirties when I got an office job and, as a result, was less active. Over the years my weight has fluctuated up and down and at my heaviest I was 11 stone. I tried many different diets and some exercise but not enough to get me back into the shape I wanted to be. There always seemed to be an excuse as to why I couldn’t commit to a healthy diet and exercise plan. I decided that I needed someone to help me to get on track to achieve the results I want and also to provide the motivation and encouragement I clearly required if I was going to make any improvements to my fitness and body shape. Since I started training with Gareth I have noticed a big difference in my overall strength and fitness and my body is definitely more toned than it was. The weekly sessions are always varied and challenging, and I am never sure exactly what I will end up doing when I head to the gym, which does keep things interesting. Our relationship has developed throughout our sessions and I feel very comfortable working with him. He makes sure that I am constantly pushing myself, and on those occasions when I feel that I can’t do what he is suggesting he never allows me to give in. Despite the fact that our sessions are hard work there is also an element of fun and as a result I now feel much fitter and more energetic. This has also led to an increase in my confidence. I would not hesitate to recommend Gareth as a personal trainer to anyone, whatever their level of fitness.

Gareth understands that not everyone who seeks his guidance has a burning desire to be an elite athlete. However, increased energy levels, self-confidence and an overall improved quality of life are still very powerful reasons to commit to regular exercise and healthier eating.

Gareth can help with nutritional guidance for you that will include a full breakdown of how much protein, fat and carbohydrate you should aim to be consuming on a daily basis supplemented with 2 to 3 Personal Training sessions per week.

Tracie Dunkley journey inspiring weight loss story...

My journey from January 2016 and still continuing now with the help and support of Gareth Dean. I joined  Moulsecomb leisure centre in October 2015 which took a lot doing for me I had no self confidence and was very over weight with health issues like high blood pressure, along with considering surgery on my hip and elbow. I started by doing 1 class didn’t seem so bad and a fun way to start on the road to fitness. As a new member to the gym I was introduced to Gareth to sit down with and tell him my goals which was to lose weight and get fit for myself but mostly for my grandchildren. Gareth work out a program plan for me and advised me with my food as I’m still a bit of a chocolate eater. With Gareth’s support and encouragement to try a couple of new classes and different exercises in the gym, I’ve lost over 7 stone in weight my doctor has decreased my blood pressure medication and I no longer have to consider surgery on my hip or elbow. Gareth has given me my life back and its been such a fantastic journey as my confidence has grown from strength to to strength and I’ve made some great friend in the gym and classes that I do. Your never to old to change your life around. Last but not least a massive thank you hun for all the encouragement and advise over the last year really looking forward to this year as my goal is to another two stone yeahh!"
